Imagining the organisation of the future

working towards greater yin-yang balance in organisations

How are your male and female leadership qualities? Are they in balance? And in what type of organisation do you work? Is it a classic top-down structure (yang) or a self-managing culture (yin)? On OOTF’s second theme day we will be seeking to find the balance between both of these to come up with an answer to the questions and issues that are relevant within the business world.

The idea behind this is based on the assertion that organisations are traditionally geared towards profit, growth and hierarchy, with a focus on command and control, on figures and expansion. In other words, we are living in more of a male ‘yang’ culture. More and more people are appreciating, however, that this patriarchal approach is no longer compatible with today’s world.

Together with about 350 people from the business world on 18 May we will be digging deeper and looking harder to find a balance between yin and yang. Within ourselves in the first instance, as well as within the organisation in which we work. Not a battle of the sexes – on the contrary. The focus was on the balance between supporting and being decisive, between looking inwards and looking outwards, between vulnerability and resilience, between soft values and hard truths.

By looking at ourselves and our organisation through new glasses, we have tried to foster specific insights, which contribute to a stronger balance. Thus we are setting out what the line is for the real organisation of the future in which people work at collaborating with one another from a conscious inner sense of equilibrium, which in all respects is less effortless, more deliberate and more successful.

Aanpak

Approach

The approach of an OOTF day consists of the following three ingredients:

  • Contractors and discerning leaders provide inspiration.
  • Participants draw from their own experience and exchange insights.
  • Facilitators coach the group and give meaning to shared insights.

In each of our activities we create a safe space for all those present and in so doing apply the 4 basic principles of OOTF.
